How to share your Experian credit report

If you want to share your Experian credit report, you should know that you don’t have to. Companies like banks, lenders, and letting agencies can request your credit report from Experian directly—all they need is your permission. This means that you will never be asked to print and bring a copy of your credit report when you apply for a loan or mortgage.

How can I download a copy of my full Experian credit report?

If you want to download a PDF copy of your Experian credit report for your own records (for example, to show potential signs of fraud to the police), you can do it on Experian’s website. You will need a CreditExpert subscription. It costs £14.99 a month but comes with a free 30-day trial. Without it, you can only view your credit score.

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to Experian’s website and log into your account—or sign up if you don’t already have one; you’ll see a menu with the options: “summary”, “score”, “credit report,” “protect”, and “compare offers”.
  2. Click on “Credit report.”
  3. Scroll down, and you’ll see a button that says, “Print or save your credit report.”
  4. A new tab will open with a PDF version of your credit report.
  5. Depending on your browser and device, you might need to click “save as PDF” or “export as PDF” to save it to your computer or phone.
  6. That’s it. You now have a PDF of your Experian credit report showing its generated date.

How can I download my Experian statutory credit report?

If you don’t want to subscribe to the $14.99 Experian CreditExpert service or already used the free trial, you can also request a copy of your Experian statutory credit report.

The good news is that you can receive it in physical format, on paper, if you request it by post.

To get your Experian statutory credit report via post, follow these 3 steps:

  1. Download the application form on the Experian website.
  2. Fill it out.
  3. Mail it to Customer Support Centre, Experian Ltd, PO Box 8000, Nottingham, NG80 7WF, UK.

Your report usually arrives in 7 working days. It may take longer if Experian needs more information to verify your identity (hint: you can make this faster if you register to vote, as credit reference agencies use the electoral roll to verify your identity).
