What to do if you can't login to Experian

If you can't log in to your Experian account and need to check your Experian credit score or report, you can do a few things: recover your username, reset your password, or contact Experian.

How can I find my Experian account username?

Your username is, in most cases, the email address you used to set up your Experian account. If you have multiple email addresses, go to each inbox and search for "Experian".

It might also be possible that the email you received from Experian somehow went to your spam inbox. This can happen, so make sure to check there as well. You should also keep in mind that many email providers, including Gmail, empty your junk inbox after 30 days. This might mean that the original email from Experian is gone.

There are two different solutions in this case:

  • Reset your Experian login password by trying each email inbox you suspect you might have used when creating the account.
  • Or click on "Forgotten username?" on the login page. This will take you to a page where you must verify your identity. Once you've confirmed your name, surname, email address, and date of birth, you will receive an email with your username and the email address Experian has on file.

How can I find my Experian account password?

If you know your Experian username but don't remember your password, you have two options:

  1. Search your device (if you're on an iPhone or Android phone) or your browser (for example, Chrome or Safari on a laptop) for "passwords". Then see if anything there contains "Experian" or "Experianidentityservice". If you can't find anything, you probably don't have the Experian password saved on your device.
  2. Go to the Experian login page and click "Forgotten your password?". You'll then have to enter your email address and click "Reset password". You will also have to verify your identity by confirming your date of birth. Experian will then send a 7-character code to your email address.
  3. If you set one up, the same process works for resetting your memorable word. Your memorable word is a short word that Experian will use in emails, so you know they come from Experian and not from a fraudster pretending to be them.
  4. If you can't access your email address, you can still reset your password by clicking "Can't access your email address?" on the next page. This will allow you to confirm your identity in other ways—usually by confirming your debit or credit card details.

None of these work; how can I get in touch with Experian?

If you still need help logging in to your Experian account, you should contact Experian.

You can reach the Experian customer support team:

  • Go to the Experian Help page and click the "Agent chat" bubble in the right-hand corner. They're available between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Email them at [email protected]
  • Or call 0115 828 6738. This number is toll-free in the UK, and you can chat with the Experian staff live. They'll help you figure out what's happening with your login details.
